A small team that takes plumbing work personally.
Based in George Town, Penang. Serving residents since 2011.
Back to HomeHow Damai Tap Came to Be
Damai Tap started in 2011 when Ahmad Fadzil, a licensed plumber who had spent a decade working on new-build projects in Penang Island, decided to focus on the quieter end of the trade — residential repairs for people already living in their homes.
The name came from the street where he first set up his tools cabinet. Damai means peaceful or calm in Malay, which felt right for a service that aims to be the least stressful part of a plumbing problem.
Over the years the team expanded to three working technicians, all trained to carry out the specific range of services we offer: tap repairs, cistern work, and section repiping. We decided early on not to try and do everything — managing a focused list of services means we carry the right parts, know the common failure points, and can tell you exactly what a visit will cost before you book it.
George Town's housing stock — a mix of older shophouses, pre-war terrace units, and high-rise condominiums built across different eras — presents a specific set of plumbing challenges. Pipe materials, water pressure, and fittings vary considerably building by building. The team has accumulated a practical working knowledge of what to expect in each type.
Our aim is not to grow into a large operation. It is to keep doing a contained set of jobs well, show up when agreed, and leave the property in a better state than we found it.
The Team
Three technicians, each focused on a defined area of residential plumbing work.
Ahmad Fadzil

Suresh Krishnan

Focused on tap cartridge replacement and fitting upgrades. Has worked on more than 400 drip-tap repairs across George Town apartments.
Lim Wei Keat
Cistern & Sanitary Technician
Specialises in toilet cistern assessment and valve replacement. Familiar with the range of cistern models installed in Penang's older and newer housing stock.
How We Work
A set of working practices we apply to every job, regardless of size.
Written Scope Before Work Starts
We confirm what we will do and at what price before any tools come out. No verbal agreements that can be misremembered.
Licensed Plumbing Technicians
All technicians hold valid CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia) registration appropriate to residential plumbing work.
Pressure Testing on Pipework Jobs
After any section repipe, we run a full pressure test before sealing the wall and signing off. The reading is noted and available to the client.
Quality Replacement Parts
We use components sourced from established Malaysian plumbing supply distributors, not grey-market parts. Brand and batch are recorded for each repair.
Site Left Clean
Removed parts, old washers, and packaging are bagged and taken away. We wipe down any surfaces that got wet or marked during the job.
Public Liability Coverage
We carry public liability insurance for all residential jobs. If something on our end causes property damage, it is covered without a dispute.
Residential Plumbing in George Town, Penang
George Town's residential neighbourhoods span a wide range of building ages and construction types. Pre-war shophouses in the heritage zone often have original copper or galvanised iron pipework that presents specific repair considerations. Mid-century terrace homes in Pulau Tikus and Padang Tembak typically feature older PVC or polyethylene installations. Newer high-rise developments along Gurney Drive and the surrounding coastal belt use more standardised CPVC or PEX systems that are better suited to the regional water pressure profile.
Damai Tap's work is focused on the residential apartment and landed property segment. We do not take on commercial contracts or large-scale construction plumbing — our knowledge and equipment are calibrated to the smaller-scale, occupied-dwelling environment where access, cleanliness, and minimal disruption matter most to the client.
Penang's tropical climate and the age of much of the island's housing stock mean that tap washers, cartridges, and cistern internals wear more quickly than in cooler or drier climates. Water quality from the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) is generally good, but certain areas experience higher sediment loads during wet season, which can accelerate valve seat wear. Our technicians are familiar with these local patterns and account for them when assessing a repair.
